VISUALS

I put together a few visuals. Once I come up with a pub name, I will hire someone to design the logo, but this gives me some ideas. I do like the way Black Tupelo lends itself to the tree image.

  1. After seeing images on blog, I know I like the simple trees best. Odd how quickly that kind of decision can be made once it's presented in the right context.

  4. ha!

Anyhoo, I was going to say I love the tree image with Black Tupelo. Love, love, love. I like PSP best with the train image. And Belfry makes me think of bats/dark, so the dark cobblestone street works best for me. Because it's all about me, of course. ;-)

  5. heather, i couldn't find a belfry that didn't look like a church, or an image that wasn't too busy. i was going to say that it seemed guys were favoring black tupelo... but way to turn that around. ;) i think it has a noir thing going.

  6. i'm for the tree....and belfry press...nice, simple, memorable. easier recall than the others, too.

  7. emeraldcite: good point about recall. that is SO important in publishing. same applies to title and name. hate when i can't remember a title or can't pronounce a name.

  8. I love the simple tree- the simplicity of the design makes your eyes simple rest on your publishing name. And I like Belfry Press for that! Can't wait to see your final decision!

  10. have you thought about using a picture of your own belfry? i remember one on your flickr set. bet you can get some nice picks of it, make it b&w, and add belfry...

  11. emeraldcite, i did think about that. maybe i should try some black & whites to see what I can come up with. don't want it to look religious though.

  12. true, but if it's eerie enough...churches can be very creepy and not religious. If you capture it just right, it might work...

    otherwise, i like the tree.

  13. emeraldcite, i messed around with an image i already had. i think it could look better from a different angle.

  14. The first and last are awesome. I love the photo in the second, but the letters are too small.

  15. a sharper relief might help too, but i agree. another angle might catch it better, but it looks pretty cool (not to mention ominous...)

  16. The last Belfry one reminds me of the drawings in the PBS Mystery program. I like the Perley Station with the station/clock image -- it makes me think of steampunk, ha.

    But the tree is gorgeous.
